Travel plans = no more

Hello… it’s been a while.

Considering the world has well and truly turned upside down all in the space of a few weeks, I thought there couldn’t be a more perfect time to come back to my blog.

Yes, everything is stressful and uncertain right now. Yes, travel is definitely off the cards for the time-being. But no, it doesn’t mean we can’t think about travel, gain new ideas and dream about the day where we can travel once again.

I know things are tough… you may be out of a job, you may be working nights to help the NHS’s effort. But whatever you are going through, it is OK to be upset, anxious, or whatever you may be feeling. None of us have ever experienced anything like this before, and it’s scary.

Some of you may have had trips planned that you’ve been working hard to save up for, and may feel absolutely gutted knowing that these won’t be able to happen. But there is something extremely important that we need to take out of this time. We have to learn to appreciate what we do have right now. This could be family, friends, colleagues, pets… anything that will provide us with the support and love that we need during this time. It is necessary that we reach out to those we love as everyone will be dealing with what’s going on in their own way. Some people may provide the calm that you need during this time. Others may be struggling and need your support.

Gratitude is something we should feel during this time. I am grateful to be where I am in life, even if I am worried about the future. I am grateful for what I have done up until now. I want to share some of my favourite travel memories thus far and for people to know that even if they have missed out on travel plans, they will have the chance again to do the things they want to do.

Here’s me in some of the beautiful places I am grateful to have visited…

Paris mon amour…

Nusa Penida

The rice terraces of Ubud, Bali

The temples of Bangkok, Thailand

The mountains around Cusco, Peru

The view over Bogotá, Colombia

The waterfalls of Costa Rica

The stunning views of Granada, Spain

Hopefully the current circumstances will teach us not to take for granted the simple things we have in life, and the things we may undervalue; a roof over our heads being one of them. And it is a time to think of those that may not be as lucky; think of the homeless, those living in poverty, those escaping war…

Yes, this is a terrible time filled with uncertainty. But it is temporary, and we can get through it. We will come back from it stronger, and we will probably appreciate everything a lot more. We will go on amazing trips and we will gaze in awe at the sights in front of us. I appreciated travel before, but I am sure that I will appreciate it on a whole new level when this is all over.

For now, stay safe; appreciate what you do have and this will all be over eventually.

Kisses x
