A nice photo that I took

Hello!!

What better time to come back to my travel blog than right now? It’s safe to say that keeping my social media channels up to date with my adventures has not been a strong suit of mine over the past year or so.

Life gets pretty busy sometimes and I often find I reallyyyyyy don’t feel like picking up a phone or laptop to post on social media. However, I felt that now was a good time to start documenting what I’m up to – I am embarking on a rather big adventure so I may as well share it.

I left off here with a post about how 2021 went for me. It ended with a back injury and minimal adventure to speak of, so I think it’s understandable that I didn’t write about, well, anything. Fortunately, the year did turn around for me. In short, I went on the trip of a lifetime to South Africa to meet some of Josh’s family and friends, worked onboard a sailing yacht cruising Greece and Turkey for the summer, visited family and friends in the UK, Portugal and Mallorca – I still have a LOT of photos to share which I will put out into the world at some point.

Enough of the 2022 nostalgia though – What am I up to now?

As of this Tuesday 25th October, I have set sail on my first trip across the Atlantic Ocean. I have wanted to sail across the Atlantic since I first got into this industry, and what better way to do it than onboard the lovely sailing catamaran that Josh has been working on for the past couple of years. There are five of us onboard as delivery crew rotating equally as watchkeepers. This basically means we are sailing the boat, looking out at surrounding vessels, and ensuring the boat gets to its destination safely.

My aim is to try to make a sort of journal documenting our trip – it will be a bit sporadic as I’ll only be able to post updates when we get Internet along the way.

For now I will leave you with a rough itinerary so you can see how this is going to go…

Today, Thursday 27th October we are due to arrive at a marina in Sotogrande, Spain where we will refuel, reprovision and set off again during the morning of Friday 28th October.

We will then sail to the Canary Islands, Spain to do the same thing.

After this, we will stop in Cape Verde, Africa for our final refuel and reprovision.

Then, the big crossing begins. We will, of course, wait for a weather window and hopefully be able to sail a lot of the way. It should take roughly two weeks to cross from this point – which is when I’ll probably have no signal to post!

Stay tuned if you want to embark on this adventure with me.

Kisses (or besos as the Spanish say) xxx
