Atlantic Crossing Diaries 2

28/10/2022

And we’re off on the next leg of our journey!

We had a busy morning getting ready to leave Sotogrande, Spain after spending a night on the dock. I got up and started cooking/prepping food in case the weather ahead was bad! I baked a banana bread, froze some bananas that were going bad to make smoothies, made homemade beetroot hummus, homemade granola, homemade pistachio pesto and batch cooked some plain quinoa for meals.

Some of the food prep

Talia and I went to the supermarket to get any supplies we forgot in our first shop on Monday in Palma (pot noodles being a favourite for those on night watches!). The boys washed down the boat, went out to buy fishing gear (we’re hoping to catch some tuna or mahi enroute!) and refuelled. We departed Sotogrande this afternoon and it’s now a slightly chillier passage towards Gibraltar and on to the Canary Islands!

I will try to get some good pictures along this stretch, maybe even some action shots of us fishing!

A personal highlight since the first diary entry yesterday was seeing a pod of probably two HUNDRED dolphins yesterday! They followed the boat for an hour or so and it was so mesmerising watching them twist and turn… we could even hear them communicating with each other. Video footage of this is on my Instagram account @billiebesos.

Ciao for today! Besos xxx
